Why Appin Nursery
We are a private children’s nursery based in Dunfermline. At Appin Nursery we aim to provide the highest standard of care for little ones from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
To us, child development and promoting child independence are of the utmost importance. We provide a safe, secure and positive environment to nurture and educate each child as an individual.
At Appin Nursery we provide a home from home environment that is stimulating, educational and friendly. Our staff ensure that each child is encouraged to meet their full potential using Pre-Birth to Three, Curriculum for Excellence, HGIOELC and Getting it Right for Every Child.

All our staff are dedicated to providing the care and support your child needs through a nurturing and stimulating environment, enabling your child to reach their potential.
Playroom Facilities
Our playrooms are set up to encourage child-led play and independence. Children are encouraged to choose between a variety of resources and activities depending on their interests.
Education
Our areas within the play room allow children to explorer all areas of the curriculum through play, whilst staff encourage and promote learning. Staff ensure that learning and development within the nursery setting is a fun and enjoyable experience.
Activities
Activities are planned by staff and tailored to your child’s interests using a wide range of open ended resources covering all areas of your child’s learning. Staff will challenge and stimulate children in order for them to gain new experiences and skills.
Friendship
Your child will be encouraged to form positive relationships with both their peers and staff to encourage their social and emotional development. It will also help your child to settle into nursery.
Development
Your child will be encouraged to develop and learn at their own pace and staff will consider your child’s interests and learning style through regular consultation with your child.

Our Playrooms
Our playrooms are organised into 3 main rooms, taking into account the age and stage of the children. Our Dazzlers are children from 6 weeks-2 years , our Explorers are children from2-3 years and our Little Learners are children from 3-5 years. This allows us to meet the individual needs of your child. All rooms have a Senior Early Years practitioner and a team of early years practitioners who will care for your child whilst they are at nursery. Your child will have their own key worker allocated who will ensure that your child’s individual needs are being met, however the whole staff team are responsible for observing and looking after your little one.
Dazzlers
The ratio within our playroom is 1 staff member for every 3 children in attendance
Explorers
The ratio within our playroom is 1 staff member for every 5 children in attendance.
Little Learners
The ratio within our playroom is 1 staff member for every 8 children in attendance.
